Citizen Protect Officially Launches

Nearly 40% of Americans have a home security system that makes unwinding in their haven that much more reassuring. The chime of an alarm being set brings peace of mind knowing that help is near. Citizen has discovered a way to carry that comfort in your pocket with Protect.

 

Personalized Mobile Security

Protect is an on-demand, personalized, mobile protection subscription that gives subscribers 24/7 access to Citizen’s team of highly trained Protect Agents. Our Agents are APCO-trained, and many have extensive backgrounds as first responders, 911 operators, and mental crisis workers.

As 911 experts know, many emergency calls are low acuity which can overburden both PSAP’s and first responders. Protect helps to offload 911 call centers by first connecting subscribers with Protect Agents who will quickly assess their situation so they can tailor their needs with the appropriate support. Protect Agents can escalate to 911, provide first responders with a subscriber’s precise location, alert their designated emergency contacts, navigate them to a safe location or simply stay connected with and monitor them until they feel safe again.

Safety of the Future 

We began testing Protect earlier this year and have learned a great deal from our nearly 100,000 Protect beta users. Our Protect Agents have already responded to hundreds of thousands of incidents and connected many Protect subscribers with 911, providing first responders with exact locations to help them arrive more quickly--monitoring them while they wait for help to arrive.

Subscribers can be connected with a Protect Agent when they need them by starting a session directly in the Citizen app or, if they just want peace of mind when they’re alone, they can enable Protect Mode's AI-powered live monitoring.

Beginning calls with an agent can be as simple as tapping a “Get Agent” button in the app. Subscribers have the ability to connect with an agent through a video, audio-only, or text-only experience. The discretion of audio and text-only communication allows the subscriber to signal help in difficult situations.
